INFORMATION ABOUT SKIATHOS ISLAND
Skiathos is a small Greek island situated in the Aegean
Sea near the east coast of the Thessaly Region and
also quite close to Pelion area. It boasts some of
the most beautiful beaches in the whole of Greece,
lively summer nightlife and a wealth of tourist facilities.
The most popular beach is the Koukounaries one, which
has a reputation as one of the loveliest beaches in
Greece. Much-photographed Lalaria beach, on the island's
north coast, is also a quite beautiful beach, which
is only accessible by boat.
In order to get to the island, you may take a direct
charter flight from several European destinations such
as UK, Germany, Austria etc., or fly to it from Athens.
You can also take a ship or a hydrofoil from the mainland
ports of Volos, Agios Konstantinos or Thessaloniki.
The organizing committee will be most eager to answer
any questions of the participants regarding travelling
to Skiathos.
SUGGESTED DESTINATIONS
The organizing committee of the conference
suggests destinations in Greece that the participants
could
visit after the completion of the Symposium works.
These include Meteora, Chalkidiki, Pelion, Alonissos
island, Mykonos, Paros and Santorini islands. The organizing
committee can assist in the organization of post -
conference tours.
CLIMATE
The weather at the conference period is expected to
be pleasant and very good for swimming.
The mean temperatures in June in the area of Skiathos
island are about 20-30°C.
