Dear colleagues,

The Department of Planning and Regional Development,School of Engineering, University of Thessaly, is pleased to invite you to the 12th International Symposium on Toxicity Assessment (ISTA12), which is being held in Skiathos island, Greece,
from June 12 to 17, 2005. ISTA Symposia have been held on a biennial basis
since 1983 (Burlington, Canada, 1983; Banff, Canada, 1985; Valencia, Spain,
1987; Las Vegas, USA, 1989; Kurashiki, Japan, 1991; Berlin, Germany, 1993;
Santiago, Chile, 1995; Perth, Australia, 1997; Pretoria, South Africa, 1999;
Quebec City, Canada, 2001 and Vilnius, Lithuania, 2003).

The aim of these Symposia is the presentation of scientific surveys and papers relating to the fields of environmental science and more specifically to the topic of toxicity assessment using bioassays. The Symposia are designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and knowledge and to strengthen communication and cooperation between environmental researchers and diverse groups of the scientific community (managers, regulators, policy-makers, academia) concerned by current
issues in ecotoxicology.

Skiathos island, which is located in central Greece, is a famous island for its exquisite beaches, piney slopes, graphical hamlets and tourist resorts. Hotel Skiathos Princess provides high-standard conference facilities.

Dear colleagues, we believe that this 12th ISTA conference will be an event with many interesting scientific initiatives, as well as a very exciting social programme incorporating the culture of the host country.
